2009 A.C.D Report
posted by Peter on Tuesday 24th November 2009.
The following is a quick rundown on the A.C.D by Committee member Ron White. Ron has recently decided to step down from the A.C.D Committee after being the Dodge Owners Car Club official representative for.....wait for it.... the past 22 years.
For those that don't know Ron, he has done heaps for the All Chrysler Day volunteering his time and efforts, and is one of the people who makes events like this possible for everyone else to enjoy.
It was another great All Chrysler Day with heaps of sunshine (not too hot), but the weather didn’t matter as it’s all undercover. There was a good roll up of cars – 225 I think - and all very good quality. I think the quality of the cars is getting better every year and whilst the overall number of display vehicles was down by about eight cars compared to last year, the high standard of those on show more than compensated. You can’t have everything.
As always there were a lot of nice cars out in the general parking area. Perhaps the owners may have wanted to go home early, but even though the cars didn’t come into the show, their owners did. The pedestrian entry gate took more money than the “Car Entry” gate, so that means there is still a lot of people interested in the All Chrysler Day.
Thanks to the amount of spectators, we were able to donate another $1750.00 to the Children’s Cancer Institute this year. This brings the total amount which has been donated to them so far to nearly $12,000.
That amount was made possible thanks to the attendance of the people at the All Chrysler Day shows in the past.
This year was the last year for official judging and trophy presentations - next year there will be no trophies, only a few special awards. Instead, the first 250 entrants will each receive a special Entrants Plaque, for being part of the show. The decision not to have judging or trophies was not entered into lightly, and it’s hoped that the presentation of an “Entrants Plaque” to the first 250 entrants is something that people will appreciate and enjoy receiving. If this is not successful, then we will look at try something different.
If anyone has any ideas or comments on the show, please feel free to contact the Committee at any time.
